A Few Words About Us

Nooma Monika Rhue is the Chief Executive Officer of Preserve Pro. Nooma always had a love for history and culture. Her passion began with her love for poetry and telling stories as a professional griot. Nooma saw the need to share African stories and create programs exposing the Southeastern region to the wonderful folktales of Africa as a griot. Nooma was pursuing her Master Degree to become a children’s librarian. However; in 1999, while in graduate school, Nooma was hired as the Associate Archivist at Johnson C. Smith University. Nooma single-handily rebuilt the Inez Moore Parker Archives from the ground up. This experience and Nooma’s involvement with the community allowed her to assess the need to train ordinary people about the importance of preserving history.

She realized that people had wonderful stories and artifacts worthy of preserving. However; the general community lacked the basic knowledge to preserve family mementoes. She also realized that religious organizations lacked the knowledge of how valuable their records were in preserving history. Every time Nooma learned something about preservation, she would share it with the community for many years for FREE!

Nooma was approached by her mentor Mrs. Nyoni Collins founder of the Sankofa Center, Wake Forest North Carolina and advocate for preserving Rosenwald Schools to start a consulting business. Nooma pondered and reflected on Mrs. Collins encouragement for about one year before she implemented a plan to start an archival consulting business. Nooma researched how to start a consulting business. She drafted a plan for her business, and in February 2005, Nooma submitted her paperwork to have Preserve Pro Incorporated.
